The Abuse Continues

Recently, world newspapers carried stories of 6 year olds being trained by the rebels in Iraq to be terrorist. Most people can only imagine what it would be like to be approached by a 6 year old child who will explode when you touch him or her. This type of thing plays on one's mental psyche. Imagine what it does to the child - if the child survives. Over and over again, we see in the world around us and in our own country just how expendible we feel children are. We are more upset about animal rights than we are those of abused children. This is nothing new. It is a story that has continued longer than the 50 years of my life. We must stop the trauma of abuse towards are children if we want to have any hope of a good future.

One thing that is seldom mentioned by the mainstream media is that so many Iraqi children who have been killed in this war; some from the abuses you cite, but many more from our own bombs.

Ignoring these children is a form of abuse, in my mind. We only hear hard figures when it comes to the U.S. soldiers killed; Iraqi lives are given much less attention and are nearly uncountable.

The truth is, there is no future. There is a now and a then. The healing does not start outside the box looking @ exploding children half way across a distant land or stepping on animals rights to fulfill children's rights. It starts with self. Nothing has ever changed by stepping on anyone else or fighting anyone else or making a new law. I know the frustration and anger are unbearable to withstand. I have been there and there is life without pain. Anything that is worth saving is life and that includes you. By changing the anger and hate you change the world. It is not easy, hell it's hard. No one gets to death with no scars especially the unseen ones. Anyways, by working on the anger and the hate and the frustrations by talking and talking and talking to find a way out of hate will bring a newness to you. That's is the only thing that matters, now is you. Not the future but a lighter world without hate resting on you. Elsie
